Why a 4l80? Id do a t56 in a roadster.
The budget build is going to be a ls6 cam and springs, corvette asscessory drive so you can clear the hood. iF you're going to be able to clear the hood. I would do a 4.8l. They're cheap and have a slightly lower compression ratio. 9.1
Honestly a 4.8l t56 with spray would be tons of fun. After that you could build a turbo, if you could fit one.

The main reason im not thinking about an ls6 cam is because everyone that has one for sale apprerantly thinks they are worth their weight in gold. I would rather pay a little more and get a custom cam that will work out great.
Will a 340lph be enought?
Should I go with ARP bolts or studs?
I would like to use a T56 but don't feel like paying $1200 for a decent one.
I think im going to go ahead and use the 4l65. on a related note, does anyone know if i need to get the TCU to run a 2006 GTO 4l65 if i am going to use a 2001 ecu(with built in transmission control)
thanks for all of the help

Yeah the 4.8L may be a turd in a truck!! duh. His project would weigh less than half of your truck. The 07+ 4.8L plus boost would be wild I think.
I shopped around on corvette sites but ended up finding a ls6 cam for 110.00 shipped. Them I found low mileage valve springs for 65.00 shipped. You just have to be patient and shop around.
Speaking of which, what exactly are your goals? What's your budget?
