Top Gear a tv show on bbc, did a test. They raced a prius aganst an bmw M3.

Athough what the did different was, the Prius led as fast as it could and the M3 just had to keep up.

The prius got somewhere around 11 mpg racing around the track and the M3 got 17mpg.

My idea, if this hasn't been covered already, is the truck when the turbo was added produced the same power at cruise with less effort.

Just like the race between the Prius and the M3.
I saw that episode. Top Gear is the best show ever!

LOL Interesting thread...

In all my testing with turbos in relation to gas mileage it's basically remained the same as before the turbo setup during cruise and light part throttle accel as if you were driving like an old lady. Anything beyond that and it's going to tank dramatically although a lot of that depends on how quickly you are entering power enrichment with boost pressure. I don't know why people think slapping a turbo on a gas motor = free horsepower. Well it's about as close as you can get but it ain't free.

80 percent of the turbine drive is from heat, which is normally wasted, only 20 percent comes from the pressure

BUT with the newfound power of a turbo system i can guarantee your heavy foot will vastly overcome any tiny mileage gain anyways!!!
