Default Turbo housing smoking

Finally got to get around doing the turbo/cam swap. On a 2006 Silverado 5.3

Right now as it sits, Identical kit to Trick's front mount 76mm.

-Turbo manifold on only with Turbo, downpipe, wastegate, oil feed line and return(to timing cover)
-Driver's side manifold not connected yet to the turbo manifold.
-No vacuum yet connected
-Turbo just airing to atmosphere for now.
-60# injectors
-cam
-Computer pre-tuned for turbo, cam, and injectors for being able to drive back properly to my tuner.

My issue is that as soon as I turned on the truck like in 30 sec the turbo housing started smoking, quite alot and turned it off immediately.

I then realized that the drivers side was missing the spark plugs lol, plugged them in but haven't turned it on since the smoke.
And that the turbo wasn't fully bolted to the flange(hand tight only)

Also theirs a small oil spill that I cant figure out were it's leaking from(didn't replace my oil pump)

I still haven't turned it back on because I fear of damaging the turbo, anyone have any suggestions?

First thing I would say is check the drain line. It may seem "ok" and if it's only "ok" it's likely not good enough. Make sure the angle is as direct as you can to get it to drain properly.

The drain need to drop straight from the bottom of the turbo and go into the pan/timing cover, not in a loopty loop like you got it there. I'm not an expert but I'm guessing you want several inches of straight vertical line right off the turbo, then angle it towards the engine.

You can have somewhat of a slope, but right off the turbo it needs to be straight at least for a few inches like ferocity said...

You are not supposed to run a turbo without the compressor side hooked up FYI... The oils and slime from install may take some time to cook off of there, my turbo smoked for a few drives after it was installed new.

Oil line. Needs to run straight down as possible. As far as possible prior to turning into pan.
Aiming at the fender your turbo is not draining properly.

You need re-clock the bearing housing with the feed line at the 12 o'clock position. Then most likely shorten that return line as well.

Can it be done with simple tools? Or any how to?
