Default turbo lq9

i was originally gunna build a ls3 top end 408. but have since decided to turbo my lq9. i already have 243 heads on it and was wonder what people are running for heads if i should bump them down to 799's or 317's and even which kit is better the trick or the kb racing kit? forced induction is all new to me

Im not sure what heads are better, but as far as the kit builders go. You have to just talk to each about what you want out of the kit and decide who can build you what you want. Either one is very reputable with their kits. Reason I went with Kyle's kit was he was having a end of year sale at the time and got a killer deal! Id probably still be deciding between the two of them if it weren't for that

317's will help lower the compression back to norm. I think LS3 & L92 heads both have 71cc chambers, so those could work too if you still want to do the ls3 topend.

True LS3's are 68.4cc +-1cc. And the L92's say just over 70cc. Only way to really know is to have a machine shop measure them

I'm going to turbo my LQ9 @ 10.5:1 compression, but I'll be running E85. Trick and KB have excellent reputations here, I simply went with KB as he is local.

Cool, good to know. I thought they were the same except for the valves.

also,, 799 and 243 are the same heads...

IF it were me, id run it just like you have it.

I went with a KB kit also.
I dont think your gonna ever decide if one is better than the other.. they are both top notch.

Wont an LQ9 with 243s be a little of a high compression ratio with a turbo?

You mean too high of a CR for boost?

LS3s run FI all the time.. just gotta watch your timing.

What kinda power are you looking for?

Yes, I thought it would be too high of a CR for boost. LQ9 with 243's would be around 11:1.... right?
