except for i have a 3.5" cutout where that 3.5' goes to 4" and then back to the stock catback flange.

Ah being EC and 2wd you have room for days....on mine being RC and 4wd that free area doesnt exist

and thats a huge muffler for a gate!

So did you find a stock 3.5" duramax muffler? I have one at my house that I have been thinking about cutting open to see how restrictive they really are.
