I need help choosing a turbo. Im swapping the STS to a Trick. I already have the hot parts but I'm thinking of upgrading the GT67 .81 to something bigger. Only thing is my truck is a stick, so i need something that would spool since this a daily driver, I'm willing to sacrifice a reasonable amount power at the top for the sake of some low. T70 or T76 or keep the GT67? .81 or .96?
What are you Trick and front mount guys running?
truck is in the sig. stock LQ4/T56

You could probably get away with swapping to one of those turbos and still have it spool pretty quick. Taking the same turbo and moving it to the front will make it spool quicker anyway, so moving it to the front and then swapping in a bigger one might just net you the same spool time that you have now.

Keep in mind depending to which turbo you switch to, may not fit the hot pipes quite perfect, if hes already made the kit.

id stick with what ya got and see how it runs, not hard to swap to a bigger a/r or bigger turbo.

Stick with what you have while you iron out the bugs from switching to a front mount. Like they said, it's got to spool faster than your current setup.

the turbo spools fairly quick right now. i think im running into another problem. im not quite sure if the trick manifold will bolt up to the sts garrett gt67 .81 since trick uses a turbonetics t4 t70 .96 and t76 i think. correct me if im wrong.

I had a STS kit before I went with Trick and used a MP70 and Turbonetics t76. I tried both turbos on the front mount and the MP70 was awesome for instant spool up and was really fun. The t76 spools great up front and pulls better up top. I would say the t76 spools as fast up front as the mp70 did in the rear. I was using .96 exhaust housings on both. I would play with the 67 for a while until you decide its not enough and then go to a t76 or t78.

I might be wrong but it should work except the down pipe might not line up perfectly. I was running a 1.15 housing on my t76 for a while and it just made the down pipe a PITA to line up with the wastegate.

Was this a t76 or a tc76? There is a difference between the two, the tc is physically smaller, probably comparable to his pt67, just a bigger compressor crammed in. I am running the tc76 on my truck, and it spools very well. I can make full boost with vacuum brakes at 3000rpm on the line. From a dead stop idling, it will be full boost by about 2 truck lengths at most, then its alot of smoke if in 2wd.

T76. I bought this turbo used and was told it was a TC76 but turned out to be a t76 instead. It spools great so I am happy to have a little bigger turbo.
