Pulley alignment is the most likely cause or balancer is spinning on the crank. Check for a loose balancer bolt. Had that happen and it cost me 3 tensioners and a few belts before I figured it out.

The HD tensioner is not really an option. It should be part of the basic kit. Tensioners seem to be the one part of the Magancharger line-up they skimp on. I have no idea why.

My 112 tensioner on my Tahoe had many issues, the tensioner on my Maggie GTO had to be "Upgraded" and now I hear the TVS tensioners are crap unless you "Upgrade" to the HD.

The belt should be running in the middle, meaning one open rib infront and behind the belt.

Why would that be. Did they add grooves to both front and rear ? Cant see how there is enough room on the altenator to add rearward.

Not sure, good point. That is just what I have always seen when people have had 6rib belts on a 8 rib crank pulley.

Just wondering. Setting up a new blower set, and right now I do not have all the pulleys, so we lined up the blower rear groove with the crank rear groove. Would suck if I had to do all that again. lol

Just run a straight edge across all the pullies, and run it parallel with the belt. It will stick out like a sore thumb when you find the problem. If it is shredding belts it is more than likely a messed up pulley somewhere.

Don't know if this helps or not, but my tensioner is 8 rib and the 6rib belt is running on the middle 6 groves of the tensioner pulley. I've had some form of Maggie on this truck for 75K miles. Most of those miles with 2.6 or 2.8" blower pulleys. The only belt issue its ever had was when the blower pulley was installed backwards (way out of alignment). Other than that, never broken or thrown a belt.

That is incorrect, the belt should be on the back 6 ribs and the front 2 should be open. When they built the 8 rib stuff, the add 2 ribs to the front of the pulley, not one on each side. I'm currently running a 6 rib superchager pulley and belt on my truck with the rest of the drive 8 rib. It's like this now cuz the size blower pulley I want to run I only have in a 6 rib but am having a new 8 rib pulley built.

Alignment and tensioner slacking are the 2 usually culprits for belts spreading or coming off.

I am with KB on this one.. There is a issue with the 8 rib.. I am thinking that the belt is getting hung up on the other 2 ribs, pulling it out of line, then off the pulleys
