TVS2300 With a Twist! Flywheel dyno results attached.
As Some of you may know, I have been pushing the limits of my TVS2300 LSX427. 1/4 mile times, chassis dyno numbers, and real world driving. Kids Still love it! Btw
The bus has been sitting for the most part recently, Due to time restraints and such.
A friend of mine recently had his LS2 dyno'd at a local performance shop and asked if i would be willing to provide my TVS2300 Supercharger along side His TVS2300 for some friendly comparasions.
I said HELL Yes!
We arrived early and ready for some fun! His LS2 already had a TVS2300 installed, ready to ROCK! And Mine on the bench waiting the call.
This Is what we Started with.
Darton sleeved LS2 7.0 with an overdrivin TVS2300, 80# rated injectors and a 3.2 front pulley.
we set up a safe tune and made some pulls.
The best one came in @ 703.8 hp 5000 rpm and 763.1 tq @ 4700 rpm.
Max boost was 12 psi

Then I got the call, We removed the blower as an assembly and installed mine. Same TVS2300 But with a Twist MY 1" PHENOLIC SPACER. Same Size injectors 80#, same cog drive, and same pulley 3.2
We Were at the end of the day and the operator was running out of patience So we hammered it out like a nascar pit crew! Like 20 minutes to swap em out!
We made a few Check pulls to look everything over checked for leaks and then we went for it!
1 Pull! Thats all we got! 749.9 hp @ 6000rpm and 771 tq @ 4600 rpm
Max Boost was also 12 psi
It's Not the Peak #'s that get My attention, its whats in the middle that got me!

This was as close to an "apples to apples" test we could come up with.
Same tune,same gas,same motor (lol) Same Superchargers Just one with some added plenum volume.
Here Is the graph for the last pull still working on getting the graph for the other pull.
We Learned ALOT at the end of that day! I learned how lucky I am that my combo seems to be paying off, but the one tested unfortunatly fell well short of its expectations.

there were several runs made to get to peak power, during that time it was my resonsibility to keep the TVS cool, I made a 5 gallon homer bucket into a intercooler pump res/combo keeping 54* well water running thru it constantly, the Combo really never hit what it was spec'd out to do. The Owner was really disappointed, they gave it the best chance on a conservative tune. He then gave me the chance to test my set-up.
Being a witness to disappointment and then for him to let me run my set-up, knowing his combo fell short was WAY WAY KOOL. There was Absolutly no benefit to him for doing so.

dont know the dish volume. 9.0 to 1 total compression
224/230 581/592 cam I assume on a 116.
WCCH l92 stage 2.5 heads and a maggie.

******IT WAS NOT THE TVS******** this blower package has been proven!
it had nothing to offer past 5100 rpm
really think it was the cam selection in conjuction with the current heads.
+ the low compression ratio. Something did not mix. The fueling was not the greatest but that could have been the large injectors over powering the set-up. I really don't know!
This motor was spec'd out 2-3 years ago with a different set of heads from the begining. It was promoted as a 950 flywheel hp combo capable of handling large amounts of boost. The motor was built for the TVS2300 jackshaft version. A 122HH was placed on it until the TVS was released,
the heads at that time were edelbrocks 245's. It made a few passes and showed @ 10psi of boost.The heads were changed when the TVS arrived but the cam was left alone. Everything was installed and some driving fun began, Then Shortly after that the car was totalled.
While the vehicle itself is being re-born we decided to check out the motor.
A few weeks ago the motor was put back to it's spec'd out form and above is what we got.
a few hundred short! No tuning, spacer, pulley , whatever was going to net us what this package was expected to offer.
So we left it at the shop, pulled it down took some measurements and the info is stated above. the shop has consulted with the owner and changes are being made. this will dyno again soon, would love to see that 950 hp goal but realisticly he would need to start from scratch.
