Default using 2 snails with stock manis'

ive ben playin with the idea of twin 60's and i want to use the stock manifold just flipped upside down, nonnie told me that it would not work because the alternator will hit the drivers manifold,

if so,exactly what part of the manifold will be hitting on the alternator?.. could i get away with notching or using a spacer in the (head)flange on the manifold ??

Im not 100% sure, but I remember people saying flipped 5.3 manifolds from a car worked good in this case,
Impala, grand prix or bonneville
