Vac/Boost gauge in 99-02 cluster
Well, after a lot of searching on this forum I came to the conclusion that I didn't like any of the traditional mounting spots for gauges. The A-pillar is too flashy for me and I feel like the SoCal diesel type mount would be too far from my view. Mounting in the cluster is nothing new but I haven't come across too many pics of it here. It's a clean look IMO. I'll post up pics when I have everything done and back in the truck. For the record, it's a 2 1/16" gauge and it literally fits perfect in the cluster spot very snug. I don't think I'll need to secure it in the back in any way.

Well, this turned out to be a lot more intensive than I thought. It's not as simple as just cutting thru the motherboards as a previous post I saw alluded to. A lot of trimming and dremelling. Oh, and almost everything is extremely brittle. What I learned is that re-gluing the plastic face back on should be the last thing done. I basically glued the glass back on before re-assembling everything and the gauge ended up coming out of the hole in the plastic overlay. I had to pull it back with not a lot of room to grab with the cluster all together and ended up cracking the bezel. It's not really noticeable but I will re-do it in the future when I pick up a used cluster on the cheap. Last thing I found out is that the boost gauge is extremely sensitive to any kink in the vacuum tubing. There's not a lot of room behind the gauge for the tube when the cluster is screwed down.
