Did you put the relay straight from the fuse box under the hood directly to the fuel pump in the tank?

Pretty sure the pump they give ya is = to the 255..

ZGood info Josh, glad to guys caught that. I just looked at all my wiring, while the bed was off, mine looks, good. I couldn't believe how tiny the actual fuel pump wires are, was def not going to run that huge pump off the stock stuff..

Quote from sureshot: sharpshooter and I rewired our pumps using 10 gauge wire and 40 amp relays. When we dropped sharpshooter's tank, the stock power wire was melted pretty bad. It was also causing other wires near it to melt. If the wire got hot enough to melt the coating, I don't know how much more it would have took to ignite the gas in the tank. We bought pump rewiring kits from Jayracing. They come with really high quality 10 gauge wires, a 40 amp relay, 14 gauge wire for grounding the relay, a fused power wire for the relay, wire ties, and various connectors.

Thanks for replies. I looked at packaging from my Box 2. I didn't rip it open cause I wanna minimize / flat out eliminate losing any misc. parts from kit. I saw the lil pump. How can u tell it's a 255? Where does it say that or is it under the protective felt rubber?

I just checked their (Jayracing) site. It's cheap insurance, only $30.
It's 1 thing after another. Never ends.

It’s about 20 to 30 dollars cheaper than the Hot Wire harnesses available form Racetronix, depending on which harness you’re looking at. Lonnies Performance handles products from Racetronix as well, so their prices are comparable. I don’t know how the harnesses compare exactly and not that I’m suggesting cheap out, but I would definitely be willing to try out the Jayracing harness for the price difference. It would be nice if someone has had their hands on products from both to know how they compare in quality.

I took a few pics with my phone when I did my pump. I'll post them in a few. I drilled two holes on top of the hat and put rubber grommets in the holes, then fished the wires through, straight to the pump.

Yeah, I mounted the relay inside of the fuse box under the hood. I then cut the grey power wire from the fuse box and hooked that directly to the relay-this becomes your signal wire for the relay. There is a 12 volt post in the fuse box, I ran a fused wire from the post to the relay. Then you just ground the relay and run the 10 gauge wire from the relay to the pump.
