Waste Gate Stuck

Waste Gate Stuck
I out drivng and tunning my truck.
I decide that I have a close enough tune so that I can get on it.
I stop and stall up to about 2 psi and let it rip.
Truck burns through 1st then shifts to 2nd and still smoking the tires.
i let goof the throttle, blow out valve comes on and real loud.
So then as I am coasting I decide to get on it again and no power!
I pull over and fin out that I blew off an intercooler boot.
I fix it and decide to go at it again, As I am watching my laptop I see boost to 12psi, ( I only have a 7psi spring ).
Is there a way that the wastegate got stuck when the boot came off?
Or can the diaphram on the waste gate could of blown?
Thanks, Jesse

It sounds like your boost reference to your wastegate is not working. It could be plugged with foreign material (not too likely) or may have become unattached. I sometimes see a spike to 10psi on the red spring in my Tial wastegate. Make sure your boost reference line is firmly attached and does not have a split or hole in it. Up north they sometimes get water in them and freeze up.

Make sure the boost reference hose is connected to the bottom port( one closes to the valve). This is needed to help push the valve open. Boost reference should be in the intake not at the turbo as well.
And springs are just a reference point too. Some time you have to run a lower number spring to achieve the boost you want to see in the intake.

The waste gate was working fine before this incident.
It would boost from 7.2 to 8 psi and stay there.
I checked and double checked the boost refrence line and it was ok.
I am going to take the waste gate apart and check and see if it is stuck or bad diaphram or broken spring.

Well I figured out my problem.
I took the waste gate off and took it apart.
Nothing looked stuck or bad. So I cleaned everthing and put it back together. I then decided to test it with a regulator and shop air.
It didn't work, but I could hear some air leaking so i mixed some water and soap and sprayed it. It started leaking at the bottm seal were the shaft goes into the diaphram.
So it has a bad seal.
Has this happened to anybody else?
Is it rebuildable or do I have to get a new one?
If I have to get a new one, what shoudl I go with and who would be someone good to purchase it from?
Thanks Jesse

What is bad is the bottom seal on the assy. It starts leaking then as I apply more air it finnaly catches and opens.
