I am working on a ... Buddies Turbo kit and i was wondering if the wastegate needs to be vented back into the exhaust or if is of any benefit to vent it to the atmosphere, other than blowing all the dust off the asphalt
I think so. I was running 10 psi on my 5.3 with the Radix. I did have meth, but I didn't need it. Just make sure your tune is safe. 9.4:1 or lower....what's your comp number going to be?

Right around 10.0:1 to 10.2:1 depending what the heads cc to
Wouldn't it sound like an exhaust brake on a big rig if it was vented to atmosphere rathat than going back into the exhaust pipe?
No, its actually a very loud hissing sound. It might make a little more power as it is less restrictive, but damn its noisy, lol. Personally I alway plum them back into the tail pipe.
Sorry to side track the thread, but can you plump the BOV somewhere so it is not noisy? I have seen a couple that vent to atmosphere and some others that can vent to a tube or hose...

STS made a muffler to quite their waste gates that they vented to atmosphere. I don't know how they sound though, you would have to ask BlownChevy, as he is the only one I know that has had one.
