I'm looking at replacing my current Magnaflow cat back system due to heavy drone and am wondering which setup you guys recommend for my D1SC 6.0? I have almost all my mods in my Sig.... I want it as quiet as possible without losing power.... Thanks guys:-)

I would find a 3.5" system off a newer truck and put a huge diesel muffler to quiet it down personally. If you search around you can find a take off from a newer truck for pretty cheap

If you like your exhaust system, but want to kill the drone, check out this thread. Kyle and many others swear it works great. I've never tried one myself.

My current setup is rusted and needs to be replaced. I was going to install a j-pipe to get rid of the drone until I saw the condition of my exhaust. Now I'm mainly wondering what size pipe I should run? Is 3 inch single enough for the power? The truck is not finished however, I'm planning on running 12 lbs of boost....

3" supports about 350hp before it becomes a restriction.
3.5" supports about 450hp.
I would expect you are going to be pushing 500hp so 3.5" would be minimum. 4" single or dual 2 3/4" would be much more ideal.

I've seen ~1200hp out of a 4" system, so I'd have to say 3.5" will handle a bit more than 450hp.

Right and I have seen 750hp out of a 3" does it mean that its optimal? Hell no! We are talking about when it becomes a restriction. Horsepower is all about cfm. Now one square inch of tubing will support about 115cfm. You want about 2.2cfm per engine horsepower. Doing simple math you arrive at 6.49 square inches on a 3" exhaust. That means about 747 cfm or 339hp. 3.5"=8.95"^2 or 1029cfm or 468hp. Can you build much more horsepower than that? Absolutely, but I am talking about perfect efficiency in an ideal environment.

Id look into a 3.5" stock duramax system. Enough flow and should be pretty quiet.
