With a stock tune, or even a handheld the 160 hurts milage (it did mine) I guess due to the fact it stays open loop longer or stays open loop full time. If you can tune for it there shouldn't be a problem.

The guys at W2W have done testing that shows how the #7 cylinder problems can be related to high engine temps since it gets less cooling than other cylinders. So anything you can do to help it out is good. Kinda like having a good safe tune to help it out too.(Had to throw that in there for the #7 bad tune debaters )

from all the reading i have done, it does hurt mileage. I couldn't tell ya though, I have so much other **** done to mine that hurts mileage too...who knows in my application. I'd guess different things that are just a combination of the lower stat causes poor mpg. Like more spark will make you want to get into it more...lol...so bye bye mpg.

Keep in mind, it's not gonna run at 160*, it will still run at what ever is operating for ya. It will just stay open more or all the time. In the 90* plus weather I hover around 189 to 198 temps with the 160stat. I guess that means mine is always open huh?

nonnie you are in SD but are you open loop? If you are closed loop what is your closed loop enable temp?

I lost right at 1 mpg and it was tuned for a 160 stat. I check my mileage every time I fill up and it was consistently 1 mpg less.I do feel the gains outway the mpg loss by far. I also gained about 1 mpg back with efans.
