Buy it and run it! If you want to go bigger, you can always sell it and buy a new turbo. Keep the flat tops, higher compression is not a bad thing with mild turbo setups. My next motor will be at least 10:1. It will give you more torque out of boost. LS2's are around 11:1 stock and they love boost!
This will be a BIG torque setup. A fun to drive 2000-5800rpm torque monster!

I would run it with the flat tops, the only thing is 11.5:1 is the lowest I could get with a really thick head gasket and stage 2 6.0 WCCH's, I would have ran some where around 11.7-12:1 in the end, so I don't really feel like anything good could come of that.
How much boost could I safely run with around 9.5-10:1?

I would go with a bigger turbine wheel, I just sold off a TC76 turbo, turbonetics F1-68 wheel, 68mm exducer. I ended up with a 3:1 pressure ratio on a SBM 408ci stroker at 10psi (30psi in the exhaust). Granted this is with a rear mount setup, but I am moving up to a S400SX3-76 with the 83/74mm turbine wheel per Reed at Work Turbo. Im not an expert by any means, just throwing out my experience with the same size motor.

After getting my 408 stroker kit in I kinda got urge to build a turbo motor. Well I looked around and just did want to spend that kinda cash. Long story short I got a better paying job and have got a friend that is going to make me a deal a brand new precision turbo. I just want to make sure it will be a good turbo for my 408.
He says it is a 76mm compressor and a 68mm turbine, and is a ball bearing on a .86 a/r. Would this turbo be too small on a 408?

I was refering to the OP. Was your 1.15 a divided tang? I was told by forced inductions to take off like 10% of the a/r on a divided tang and that's it's comparison to an open tang. Basically a divided 1.15 is just a touch better than a .96 open. I have a tc78 myself and I love it but I have a 5.3 not a big *** 408. But it makes stupid power. After my last set of tweaks I think I'm ready for high 11's.

Well it is all mine!! When he said it is new he was not joking it still has all the stickers on it. But I might still have a friend of my dads who is a turbo guru just go through it.
I did call turbonetics and asked if they had a higher a/r housing and he said they have a .92 I but he also said he thinks the .86 would be a decent set up but there is the possiblity of it choking out.

Hey guys,
I am a bit curious... I am going to buy the kbracing hot pipe kit, and I think that might be my next buy. Could the stock 6.0 valve springs handle a enough boost to have a little fun till I can finish ordering parts for the 408?
