The .70 a/r is the compressor housing, you need to look on the turbine side to see what the A/R of the turbine is.

I am not sure what the A/R on turbine side is, I think it is .68. I tried looking up the numbers off of the turbo at master powers site but they didn't match anything. It is a trick stage 2 kit so maybe he can chime in and give the specs of his kit. I will switch to a .96 and see what that does for me before I change the turbo. I am saving up for the triple12 cam now. The stall will have to wait a bit as funds are tight as always. Thanks for the advice and I will try and put it to good use. Can I order just the .96 A/R from master power or where do I need to look to get this.

I looked at the turbo today when I got home today and it is actually a .70 A/R and .96 A/R not .68 like I had thought. Now what?

Sounds like my 408 with the old tc76 and 1.15 housing, fell on its face after 4800. I went to a bigger turbine wheel, 1.10 housing s400 and same size comp wheel and on 2# less boost I picked up 10mph at the track and was able to turn it up to 5500, VE graph shows I could go further but not with the valve springs.

This would be your next step without buying a whole new turbo. Run the slightly bigger "Q-trim" turbine and 1.00a/r housing.

His down-pipe wont match up with a BW turbo and if your changing turbine wheels i'd think your at point of just swapping snails. Best bet for a simple swap and little more lag would be a PTE 76gts/.96. Will mount up, 76mm wheel and a 75mm turbine. Wish I still had mine.

I wasnt saying he needed to swap to a BW, just that he neede a bigger turbine wheel period. I had to make up a whole new downpipe and the first 18" before the inlet flange to accomadate the larger (massive actually compared to the TC) BW.

His down pipe won't match up to the MP70 1.0A/R Q-trim either, the housing is noticeably larger and has a 3.5" v-band. I will say though this turbo would probably satisfy you as the boost won't come in near as fast as with the .96 p-trim. I have been running it for awhile now and I also have experience with the .96 P-trim on a 5.3, and there is a significant difference in lag between the two. I can drive my truck anywhere I want without getting into boost. The only time I have trouble staying out of boost is when merging onto the freeway on a short ramp, or pulling a long grade on the highway with the converter locked at 60-65mph. The later is not so much of an issue though. I do understand your desire to be able to drive without ever getting into boost though. That was my reasoning behind choosing the Q-trim over the P-trim, along with a little additional hp potential, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I think the MP70 Q-trim is the absolute perfect match for a 5.3.
