I know but turbos just make freaky power without having to worry about belts and a expensive exhaust to let it all breathe. Theres some billet wheel, ball bearing units out there that I think could come pretty close to no lag, especially if I added about 40 cubes breathing into the turbine of it.

This time next year Ill be strapping some form of forced atmosphere onto my heavy pig. Everyone with a turbo truck just needs to let me drive it so I can make a better decision
Whenever you come down to Corpus I'll let you take my truck out and dog on it all you want... Just don't wet the leather lmao

Nice videos I have read you build thread but forgot what gears are you running and converter? I know that plays a good role in turbo spool up time too. On my 6.2 t72 setup I had instant boost with a stock converter 3.08s and 6l80. What would be ideal on a 4l80 setup?

Love how as soon as you touch the throttle it comes into boost. Takes awhile to hit full boost but no LAG. Just a high boost threshold with your setup.

Looks like fun, do you miss your big CI Maggie setup off the line at all?

Yes and no...

In the video, boost isnt instant, it actually takes about 2 seconds to get up to 10lbs (at which point the tires spin anyway). When you open the throttle quickly, the entire track between the compressor and the cylinders goes to atmospheric pressure, and doesnt increase until you build boost. So what you see is just atmospheric (0 boost) pressure right when I put the pedal down.

I do miss having all that torque instantly, it made it fun to drive...when the ground was dry. When it was wet it kind of sucked because the wheels spun so easy. However, once it got into the higher rpm the blower was very lacking compared to the turbo. This was probably due to the very undersized blower I was using, but its still a product of belt driven blowers everywhere. The solution of course is to use a bigger blower, but then you constantly have belt issues.

The top end of a turbo is so much better, and for a race/street/strip type application, I would definately go with the turbo. For a DD you never rev past 4k, I would get a blower.

That's cool, I am going to do a turbo project on another vehicle. I really like the instant BB like torque of the blower, I like that I can hit max boost as fast as I put the pedal down. I want both. Haha

Thats why you get a decent sized engine with decent compression, still have 400+ hp out of boost, and when the boost hits......
