How much can you get a replacement 4.8 for? I always vote for turbo but if youre gonna push it hard and maybe blow it up you should think about how much you will spend to fix the motor. Id say get the turbo kit for the 4.8, and buy a spare 4.8 shortblock and start building it up for when you blow up the other one

The lower the gear the better it'll load the turbo from what i understand, and you'll see better mpg's. I have 4.10's in my truck and I'm never in any gear long enough to do me any good!

6L = ~1000 dollars

Trick turbo and all supporting mods = ~7000 dollars

He was asking which would be faster, not cheaper. Either way you are going to spend over 5K, unless you either run N20 on the 6.0L or buy all the parts used. To run 11's NA with the 6.0L it's going to probably need heads, cam kit, good converter, full boltons, injectors, good tune, headers, exhaust system, etc, and maybe gears.
