351 M tunnel ram
i'm not sure if this thread is posted in the right place but it looked close...lol...anyway wtf is a 351M? i have an '80 bronco i just bought for $400 with 68k on her with the 351M under the hood and want to get more power out of it (thinking tunnel ram since i have a manual tranny) does anyone know where i can get one? (i have already tried summit and jegs) was one ever made and would a cleveland intake fit or be made to fit? i'm not a ford guy' so.... (and who the hell though it was a good idea to put the distributer in front where it can get wet easy? lol) anyway.... thanks for the help!!!!

Here are a couple articles you may find interesting as far as rodding 351/400M's.

It is said that the "M" stands for modified. These engines are based off the Cleveland but the parts are not interchangeable. However some 429/460 parts do interchange with the M series engines, mostly ignition or starter related. I have been told the Cleveland intake will fit the M with special spacers, but you would have to do some research on that. I would stay away from any tunnel ram manifold for your Bronco and go with an Edelbrock Performer. They sell EGR and non-EGR versions.
I personally wouldn't waste too much time or money on the M, just my opinion. I have had oiling problems with these blocks. I have always gone 429/460 and gotten more HP/TQ with the same mileage as the small blocks.
Good luck in whatever you choose to do.

Nevada79 pretty much stated everything that I would have said.
A tunnel ram is the exact opposite of what that truck needs. What are your goals?
I've had friends with the 400 and the 351M and when kept simple they made good long lasting truck engines.
I'd do the following for cheap:
Summit intake combo - Weind Action+ intake, Holley 600cfm carb, gaskets, and air cleaner for about $450.
Summit Longtube headers - Cheap $90!!!
PAW SSI cam - Part # SSI-10329 for $65!!!
and finally an ORY pipe to single 3" through a bullet or Flowmaster style muffler. Great bang for the buck. Different gears would help if you don't already have 4.10's or deeper.
Good luck, let us know how it goes.
