Default Bronco project

As many of you know, I am a GM owner, and in 5 or 6 years or so, will be a Nissan owner (refer to Navara/ Frontier Project or something like that.).

When we were in Iceland (yes, I was in Iceland with my family...I was quite young too actually, 1-5 yrs perhaps)

We had an '80s Bronco, with 44 inch tires...that's right, 44 inch tires...and the thing was huge. It was a fun thing also.

I plan to do this project after I finish with the Nissan. I assure you, this thing will never see the Highway because of the 44's I plan on putting on it, so it will be an off-road/trail-rider/pull-someone-out type vehicle.

My questions are-
1. What motor should I drop in it (302 or 351?)? With what transmission?

2. What kind of costs am I looking at after restoring (depending on where it has been), 4WD parts, Motor/tranny, anything else?

3. What brand of tire should I get (assuming more than one brand makes 44 Mud Terrains/Mud Grips or All Terrains)?

4. What else do I need?

This is a old post but to answer a few of the questions,

1.I would go with at least a 351. 460 would be great behind a c4 tranny
2.the sky is the limit when it comes to restoring.
3.if your wanting 44s Super Swampers are about the only company that makes the best off road tires that large.
4. you will want beefed up dana 60 axle's to run with those 44s with some 4.88 gears or lower.
