Looks like its the Honda Ridegline RTL...fully loaded w/ nav, stereo, leather, ext warranty, taxes, prep for $30k. Tundra was my 1st choice, but the SR5 package they offered me was @ $33.5k and still needed a bed cover, ext warranty, and XM rec'ver($600!). It was cloth (which I actually wanted), ext cab, and just on level up from baseline interior. Nissan was def trying hard, and had a decent package, but they were still @ $33k before ext warranty.
What amazed me was that GM was the most expensive by $2G's! The 2500 LT1 package was bare bones and I was quite disappointed. The Tundra actually a 2500 with more power.
I selected the Honda as I already have 3 V8 trucks, and this will accomplish all my cargo needs on a more moderate platform. I'll put some nobby tires and nice black rims and it'll be fine. R/

Ridgeline deal fell apart...price they quoted was a "cash" price...seeing as I'm a nice guy, even tho they already took my deposit, I might let them off the hook! R/

Don't buy a Ridgeline if you want 4wd... Get your money back and if you want to stay away from a v-8 there are a lot of good v-6 midsize trucks on the market.

Not to be an ***, but the Tundra is no where near the truck a GM 2500HD is. The Tundra has a good powertrain and that's about it. The interior is ugly, the frame and body flex like mad (and that's compared to a GM 1500 frame), the tailgate falls off, etc. The GM HD has the 6 speed tranny. The rear end, the frame, the tranny, essentially everything is beefier on the HD compared to the tunrda. No comparison really.

Well as to the frame I can't say for sure, but I suspect ur may be correct. The Tundra has a 6sp Tiptronic, 381/401, 5.7L, 10 bolt 4.3 LSD rr. The HD comes with a 6sp now as well and LQ9 6.0L, unless u go with the Allison/Diesel (which they want their wght in gold for!). The Tundra is definately marketed as a 1500, but power wise its closer to a 2500. If u are going for a WORK truck then the 2500 is prob the way to go, but all round the Tundra is prob the better bet. As for interior, thats all personal preference, but I will say that GM isn't known for its ergonomics. The Titan, Tundra, and 2500 are all within .5in of interior cabin space. As for the tailgate, GM had the same problem and did a recall about 2-3yrs ago, AC probs are rampant, brakes are crap, and speedo's fail. They do have great rr ends, 4L80 was amazing (but I dont wanna be a test bed for the 6L80!), and the motor's are the best made....consumer guides put Tundra 1 or 2. THE REAL POINT is that GM pissed me off. I set out simply to buy a 2500HD. Their price for a baseline 2500 was almost $4G more than the Tundra (with second from top package), no incentives other than $1500 cash back, I bot a TBSS less than 10mos ago and expected the dealer(s) to reward my faith, and it wuda been the THIRD GM fullsize truck in my driveway. Instead they were upset that I wudn't pay up, and never even offered any enticements (warranty, bed liner, bed cover, 0%, cash back), while Nissan, Toyota, and Honda offered all those, and still are coming in $1-4k cheaper than GM R/
08 GM 2500HD LT1 ECSB - $34,900 after $1500 cash back, 3.9%, 3y/60k warr, no bed liner, no rubber mats;
08 Tundra SR5 TRD DCSB - $34k after $1500 cash back & 0% OR $29.5k if pay cash (3000) and buy thru company (1500), 5y/80k warr, $500 GAS CARD, bed liner, rubber mats;
08 Titan EC- $31.4k after $1500 cash back, 5y/100k warr, bed cover, bed extender, all options except leather;
08 Ridgeline RTL - $31.5k, 5y/100k warr, after $1500 cash back, 0% 3yrs, 2.9% 5yrs OR $30k if CASH.
****ALL THESE PRICES ARE OUT THE DOOR INCL TAXES, PREP, FEES...ETC***

Power is not what determines what is a 1500/2500. By your silly definition, the 6.2L GM 1500 should be a 2500. Again, there is no comparison between a GM 2500 and a Tundra. Speaking of interior, it's widely recognized that GMT-900 fullsize vehicles have the best interior on the market. Toyota has failed miserably in the fullsize truck market, especially considering they spent 5 billion on the Tundra/Sequoia.

I'm not debating which is a real 2500, ur absolutely right. But u probably wuda noticed that the drivetrain IS what matters, and its about even once all the pluses and minuses are totaled. Now if ur 4 wheeling then the stiffer frame is important, but I dunno anyone who goes 4x4ing with a 2500! Either way ur preaching to the converted as I already have 2 GM's in my driveway, and simply wanted a third - which they cudn't deliver. R/
Pls don't be a ***...I'm obviously not anti-GM truck, I'm pissed that they're sliding around the bowl and letting ready buyers like me , move to their greatest competitor. Ud would be amazed just how far up the GM chain my story has gone. R/
