Default 2013 Sierra Denali 1500 Hellcat aka Walbro 525 fuel pump

TI Automotive F90000285 fuel pump (aka Hellcat pump)

TI Automotive is taking their sweet time manufacturing a TU4005HX drop-in module so in order to get the ball rolling I stuffed a 285 pump in the stock module today.
A few things I used are: (all Racetronix sourced)
-F90000285 pump
-FFS-250G sock
-fft-300x10b fuel tube
-OCLMP12.8 (quantity 2)
-2.5" long stainless steel screws size 10-24 (quantity 3)

-#10 stainless flat washer (quantity 6)
-#10 stainless split lock washer (quantity 3)
-10-24 stainless nut (quantity 6) (I double nutted)

* I also used 2 different sized stainless hose clamps to hold pump to holder that I had in the shop. I'll have to look at the clamp rack to remember which sizes. I'm guessing 28 and 36 range.

I also had every intention of changing the bulkhead connector but bought the wrong one, it was too small in diameter. I bought RCS-028 and think I needed RCS-027. I ended up using the factory bulkhead and lead wires ( they are more robust than the pigtail connected to the pump from TI Auto. Also since I bought the wrong bulkhead and ended using the stock on I ended up chopping (and soldering) ITWH-038. Now I will say I measured what I would need for the wire harness length but forgot that the Walbro connector isn't on the body, it's like 4" away so I'm hinsight I could have ran a 8" version instead of 12". Irrelevant if you run the stock bulkhead. If you buy all that you need 2 smaller terminals for the fuel level sender, I ended up just using the stock stuff.

New parts, a few of which didn't work out.

Stock pump, measuring/marking installation depth for point of reference

Cutting the floor of the pump holder off.

Floor cut off

Inlet end of pump is larger diameter than stock, I relieved the bottom ring in the pump holder by cutting in 3 spots.

It occurred to me that installation depth is dictated by the thickness of the filter sock on the inlet. I bought my parts from Racetronix and I believe this sock is different than the Walbro one so that's something to consider. Certainly a good thickness difference between this Racetronix one and the stock Bosch one.

MUCH thicker. So 18mm of the new minus 7mm of the old so the pump must be secured 11mm (7/16") higher in the holder in order for the bottom of the filter sock to be installed at the stock sock height.

Stock Bosch pump outlet slides over this 7mm portion. I couldn't find 7mm fuel tube that was 10mm on the other end for pump outlet so I bought a fuel tube that's 10mm on both ends, pushed it up over the large 10mm diameter portion as seen here. Nice tight fit.

Just mocking things up. The pump wants to caulk sideways a bit because of the offsets of the inlet etc, is no longer concentric to the holder vs the stock Bosch pump. The pump circle is essentially internally tangent to the outer (holder) circle.

Oetiker clamp installed, not the clicking of it to make sure it isn't in the way of the pump.

Marked for a little grinding/clearancing.

I added a little clearance here.

Marked for a little grinding.

After minor grinding.

Cutting this piece out to have room for fuel tube to loop up to the pump outlet.

Piece removed.

Fuel tube on pump outlet and clamp installed.

Pump back in bucket. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic of how I secured the pump to the holder. I used 2 stainless worm-gear hose clamps after messing around with different ways until I came up with something that allowed the pump to stay plumb.

All back together. I may put 100 miles on this before the TI version shows up. I'll just sell this after.
