Fuel Pump Wiring

Fuel Pump Wiring
Awhile ago I read a thread where someone mentioned that you can use the trailer wiring to deliver power to the fuel pump since it's a smallish gauge wire and already built into the truck's harness. Has anyone done this can can confirm it works? I have a the trailer package but never tow anything. Might as well put those wires to good use!

If I can utilize the otherwise useless factory wiring that is already built into the trucks harness (and fuse box?), then that's WAY better than bandaiding the factory wiring with piggy back hot wire kit. It's would be a very clean way to do it, not a hack at all.

Haven't made up my mind yet. I was just saying if it is possible and it does work then it seems like a better, cleaner, cheaper, and easier solution than running new wire, IMO. The point of this thread is to get more info on how to do this (like which wires to use) and to get feedback from people who have actually done it. I'm all about my mods looking factory, so using factory unused wire that is already neatly routed through the truck's harness would be right up my alley.

If your talking about the power wire that runs to the rear for trailer brakes, that would work, but your gonna have to find it in the fuse box and repin it for a relay.
I just hooked power to the battery under my truck and ran a 8ga wire back to the tank. Used the factory Fuel pump wire (grey) to trigger my relay. Im runnin two 255 pumps all the time ( i forgot about hooking the second one up at the track and havent unhooked it yet) fed from a 10ga and a 8 ga wire. with a 8ga ground
