Default Injector size/choice turbo 4.8

Hi all,
Looking for 600hp crank MAX, in reality probably keep it around 500-550, just due to the rest of the driveline. I dont want to have to upgrade all the rest for this particular application.
I did a calculator and it showed i need 60lb for 600hp. Seems high to me?
Its a 2006 Envoy Denali, gen4 4.8 rebuilt, headstuds, BTR Torque Cam, Howards valvesprings.
Running out of money unfortunately, but still would like to get quality parts. Can I use factory 8100 injectors?
Ebay has 60lb “Siemens” for $100 which would be sweet, but that smells a lil Chinese to me..

oh stock pump and 58 psi returnless

50-60's will be about right for a turbo 4.8 truck.

The stock 8.1 injectors are only 31lb/hr, no where near close enough. If you cheap drop in units that have data already there for your computer, you can find 6.2 flex fuel injectors for pretty cheap on ebay from good sellers. They are 52lb/hr injectors. Or you can get flex fuel 6.0 injectors that are 50lb/hr.

I've bought from this guy to get the 6.0 injectors.

Otherwise you'd be spending $500+ for name brands from FIC or Deatchwerks. I'm not a fan of many aftermarket injectors that don't come with proper data.

those at $60 are flex fuel 50 lb? And genuine, that seems crazy cheap, I guess the $100 60lbs may not be junk then?

I’m new to the whole higher power FI vehicle thing..i am used to diesels and older carb stuff.

My only real experience aside from this build is a big cammed 6.0 I did a lil while back. Ran out of fuel with it (i had no idea a cam swap would need bigger injectors). Tuned it myself with HP with the help of the guys on HP Tuners board.

sSo needless to say when it comes to the small things like this, I’m not familiar with what brands/sellers/styles are junk.

Thank you

Yeah, the link I posted in legit, lots of guys on the HPT board have bought them from that seller.

They are 50lb/hr at 58psi. They will make decent power for sure, the amount of headroom you have does depend on your air fuel ratio and rpm you run it to. I think you will find that making 400-500hp to the rear tire in any truck is a lot of power.

Agreed, 450hp on the road is plenty for this application, hopefully be reliable for a while at that level.
The most I built before was a 600hp BBO n/a in a drag car. Never had more than probably 450 in a full street driver type.

Im gonna order those 6.0 ones in your link
thank you!

From a few of the calculators I used, if you want to make that 450-500whp with the injector running at 90-95% duty cycle, you'd only need something between 40-45lb/hr for injector. Those 50's on pump gas should be plenty.

If you run an air fuel ratio in the mid 11's, I think you'll be just fine.

Thank ya buddy, my last purchase with this one is gonna be a wideband, i guess its time to learn one of those as well, lol.
if those injectors do me good on this one, ill order another set for the 6.0 I cammed/longtubes, it needs a bigger set badly.

I hate asking knowledgeable people for help and their like “oh whats your wideband reading”
and I’m like
uhhhh i can smell fuel in the exhaust, is that helpful? lol

i have mvip3, so with a wideband I should be able to do alot better. Its the terminology just with the HP program that gets confusing alot.

interpolate, histogram, kill the maf, etc

Yeah, widebands are really handy. So does that truck have an E40 or E67 computer?

If it's an E67, I would get the OBD2 AEM wideband, makes it real easy to log that wideband. And if it's a E67, it makes importing the injector data a lot easier.

If it's a E40, then I don't think the OBD2 wideband works because it's not can-bus in those years. And if it's an E40 you can use this post to get the injector data I think because the E40 is still in GEN 3 format but double check.

The user name Blindsquirrel as the link in his signature for the injector data.

It is an E40, but kind of a half-breed of the years. The knock sensors are down low on the side of the block, but it has the 24x crank wheel. Cam sensor is in the front cover, the LH6 came with DOD. I have not messed with one.

Should I just get a wideband with it's own separate display gauge then?

I guess I have two logins, hmm
