On a all-time 4x4 can one rear tire be new an 2nd rear be half worn 14/32?
07 Hummer H2 completely stock.
One rear tire ruined 2nd rear tire half way worn can I replace just one tire an have full tread on one side an half way worn on other side? Or will this effect the wheel speed sensors. if OK which side should the new tire be on?
if this situation arose again w/ my car I'd just replace both tires however this H2 isn't driven much an when driven isn't long distance cruises basically it's a tow vehicle.
thanks

I mean..... it's not ideal, but it will survive. If the tires are worn and this is a tow only rig- I would start budgeting to put tires on it. I have Cooper ATPs on my van, I got 5 of them mounted and balanced for $1400 out the door
that $1400 is a lot cheaper than having a tire fail and wreck your truck and trailer. And since you already said 1 tire failed, can't imagine the rest are too far behind as far as age and wear is concerned

Plan A use 2 cepeks on rear, then 2 used ironmans on front.
new unmounted cepek next to same size 315-70-17 ironman, when mounted will the cepek get wider an shorter?
used ironmans for front
Weird in 4x4 world I see a lot of half way worn tires for sale.
This H2 won’t be driven much the tows are short distance less than 10 miles under 45mph. I have a tamdon axel trailer.
Plan C use cepek an used cepek on rear an 2 new goodyears on front.
plan D I could use the free tire for a spare an get 4 new goodyears hate to flat spot 4 tires on a vehical thats not driven much.
I don't have storage room for a giant tire unless it's bolted to the spare carrier. that's how I got a free tire man had small garage an got tried of tyring to sell it.

Hello,
Regarding the DOT of the tires, we do not sell any tires more than 04 years old as per DOT regulations. Also, knowing the DOT codes on the tire beforehand is very difficult due to the large number of suppliers we work with, which is almost 800 plus suppliers.
We understand that you may want tires with the most recent DOT codes, however, handpicking tires is not possible due to the sourcing algorithm we use with our suppliers.

that said, any type of limited slip or locking differential will need to have as close-to-matching overall tire heights on each side of that axle to not cause problems. that's because the shorter tire will rotate faster at the same travel speed - which seems like it's slipping/losing traction. if that RPM differential is big enough (especially on vehicles like the H2 that use the brakes for traction management), the truck will be constantly trying to slow that wheel down - driving excessive brake wear on that corner.
where your AWD matters is that if the front & rear tires don't also match diameters, the same thing happens because it's trying to manage a front:rear torque split as well. our H3 operates the same way.
if this truck had a selectable 2WD mode and an open rear differential, then you could do whatever you wanted without consequence... but unfortunately for your wallet, that ain't the case.
