01 1500HD 4L80E performance rebuild
first time on the forums let me know if i posted in the correct topics. I have a 2001 silverado 1500HD 2wd currently around 185k miles on it and i have no reverse gear it worked 2 times when i put it in reverse felt weaker each time it would engage anyways i'm thinking about going with monster transmission mega ss rebuild kit they say it can handle 750 hp and 700tq which is ideally what i want going to do some engine performance later down the road but what do you guys think about the monster transmissions rebuild kit? looking for something to be able to handle hp and tq along with stronger internals to get rid of like for example the weak reverse band on the 4l80e's and something that i can still get a move on in the truck and forsure needs have the ability to move a trailer easily like nothing i always have to mash on the pedal to get a move on whenever i'd tow a car.

Honestly a stock 4L80e has been known to handle that power pretty easy. Usually a shift kit along with a good rebuild and converter would do that thing wonders. Also a good tune.
Jakes has a rebuild as well. I'm sure the monster stuff uses the same parts.

Looks like i'm gonna have to go with jakes stage 2 rebuild kit i'm definitely hard on my stock 4l80e i did overheaat the trans twice last summer not surprised my reverse gear went out it was ovherheating only in the summer because GM made the trans fluid warm up through the coolant radiator then it goes to the stupid small trans cooler that looks like its for a small pickup like 2 door tacoma. so i already switch to the tru-cool 40k trans cooler and bypassed the radiator, california traffic sucks, jakes rebuild kit says they have instructions on how to modify some hydraulic stuff so im definitely going with jake's i didnt see that instructions with other rebuild kits

Nothing against Jake’s,
I used a local rebuilder that built mine his way and all I asked for was the internal dual-feed mod.
I’ve beat on that SOB for nearly 4 years now, no issues.
Another reason I chose local was they offered a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.

i would like to send it out to somebody to do it for me but my uncle when he taught me how to work on cars first thing i learned on was transmission rebuilds i got 2 other project cars going on so i need to save some cash so i can spend it on extra mods for my truck while i build my trans. currently in school and getting paid to go to school so don't got many options to send it out. 1 more year and i can get my FAA license then comes serious lq4 mods. California sucks on emission law restrictions makes me wanna move to texas or arizona. gas prices are crazy costing my around 4.70 a gallon for 89 in my area, 6.0l are thirsty engines
