04-06 water in tranny problem?
A guy I know has a 06 silverado and his tranny just took a dump. He is 3k out of warranty and the dealer told him there is water in his tranny. He found this bulletin:
GM TSB 05-07-30-017B dated 2/17/06 was a revision to include additional model years, and reads:
CONDITION: "Some customers may comment on a shudder condition at approximately 64-80 km/h (40-50 mph) when the TCC engages".
CAUSE: "This condition may be caused by water in the automatic transmission fluid (ATF). Water may enter the transmission by dripping from the cowl area onto the handle of the transmission fluid level indicator".
CORRECTION: "Two steps are required to repair the vehicle. First repair the transmission and second, seal the cowl area to prevent repeat water contamination of the ATF. This bulletin is focused on repairing the second step"
2004-2006 Avalanche, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, Sierra, Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade are all list on the bulliten.
Is this some common or something GM is trying to keep quiet. If so, how many of us have this problem and dont know it?
