Where in Alabama are you and where were you looking into getting the 6L80 from? I was talking with someone about putting one in and I was thinking it was possible with the 58 tooth reclutor wheel, which in most cases would be just a crank swap.

I am in the Huntsville area. I have not found any good deals on the 6L series trannys as of yet. So far my best source is from GM.

To answer your ?'s

I'm running a modified stock cross member
Got the wiring harness from my local GM dealer
Tranny Temp does display
Speedo was on the money after a flash
Shift selector is limited to P R N D
I'm running a PI converter
If you get a new Trans from GM it will come with a Converter
The stock converter from your 4L70 won't work.
My set up has bugs, but only with the transfer case. No other codes
but my DIC flashes 4WD Errors...

One other question I have is what kept you from just getting the tranny harness from speartech and terminating it at the ECM? Or was there just too many issues wiring wise that a tranny only harness would not address?

Hmm. so would the AWD 6L80E mate up to my 08 4x4 1500 and transfer case? If so i may pull the trigger on one of the Escalade ones instead of building the pos 60e. Anyone know how much stronger these things are?

we need someone in the know to tell us what spline count the 6L80s and 90s have. is it 27 and 32, or both 32?

Question

Are the crossmembers for the tranny different between the
4L65e and the 6L80e ? I am looking to install a 4L80e in my 2008 ECSB GMC with the 4L65e in it now. I was told I would have to mod the factory one to make the it work with the 4L80e ? Colud I maybe use one from a 6L70 /80/90 and not have to mod the factory cross member ?
