Default 10.5 or 9.5" Converter

So now I'm thinking of going with either a PI Vig single disc or a Circle D stage I, something in the 2800-3200 range, but I'm trying to figure out if I should go with a 10.5 or 9.5 verter. I don't plan to tow so I don't need the extra size of the 10, but I like that it won't generate as much heat since this is my DD. On the other hand, the 9.5 will be lighter and have less rotating mass, but run warmer. Any other pros/cons of each? What do think I should chose?

For you I choose 9.5 3200. Get the tru cool 40k and you'll be golden.

I think the 9.5" acts "looser" than the same stall in a larger converter. I had a 9.5 3300 when I had the 60 in and it was a pain in the city, especially hills. Really roasted the tires though!

A pain as in you needed alot of throttle to get moving? This is my dd so I'm not so sure I'd like that

Stick with the bigger converter. My PI triple disc 9.5" is kind of obnoxious. It's not my DD so I don't mind it too much, but it does need a lot of foot to get rolling, really annoying turning around in my driveway.

I'd get the 10.5 I've had both and for a Dd I think you would be happier with the bigger converter and it will make less heat.

I got an Edge 9 1/2 single disk for my 80e swap. He speced it for me and my setup and built it for that. Said I would be fine to tow with it since it's a much more efficient converter then the bigger converters. Also told me it wouldn't be a problem to lock up the clutch at WOT at all. His spec was a 3000 stall with a 2.40STR. He said it won't be a "loose" feeling stall on the street at all and you could deliver news papers with it if you wanted to, lol. Might give Andre a call.

Yes, just like a slipping clutch. If you have a loud exhaust it will get you a ticket. Hills are bad because it doesn't want to shift up and the motor is racing. My 60 foot improved big time with that converter & slicks.
I am more than happy with a 10" 3000 in the new 80 but thats a whole nuther story.

I have a 9.5"in my DD. Whats the point in getting a stall if you're not gonna want it to stall high?
