Default 10 bolt trouble.. AGAIN

It looks like my 10 bolt has went out yet again. I think the pinion seal went out and it puked oil all over. A few minutes later, a loud howl. Pulled over and seen the oil all over the bottom of the truck. Refilled and the loud noise was still there. It is such a mess under my truck!

Im sure its going to need new gears, bearings, and the eaton rebuild kit, I wonder if I should consider the 14 bolt 9.5" rear end and drum brake set up.

I looked on car-part, and the situation doesnt look good. Not any there. Does anyone have recomendations? I seen others post on that it will cost over $2500 for the 14 bolt, a bit steep IMO.

Can any other model years work with some relocating of the spring perches and drilling hubs for a 6 bolt pattern.

Please help!

Find an '88-'98 2500 or '95-'98 Z71, most of them have a SF 14 with 6 lugs and 3.73 gears...the axle length is correct but the perches will need to me moved

It's also a differnt rear end from what I was told by the local gear shop. They said the "new" 14 bolt is the one to get.

Would the "new" 14bolt be a direct bolt in basically then? Do the "new" 14 bolts have drums?

I'm pretty sure the drive shaft will be a little shorter. Will know tomorrow for sure if mine makes it in on time. Other than that it will bolt in and brake cables and brake lines bolt right up. I have have already done the drum conversion and the brakes work as good as before if not better. All I did was bolt in and bleed... were good to go.
