Default 100,008 miles = Service 4WD WTH?

So my truck rolled 100,000 last week. My service 4wd light comes on. At first i started freaking out trying to think what's wrong , but then I regained composure and thought a second. I am guessing that it is a pre-determined mileage that comes on for routine maintenance. I'm guessing this includes front diff & transfer case fluid? Anyone else have this issue. How do I reset the light? I'm sure it is in the manual but I'm at the computer thinking about it so I'll ask you experts. Thanks for the help!

pretty sure the light would set a code even if it is for routine maintenace, either way if theres something wrong with your 4wd it wont turn off untill its fixed, or if it maintenance you may need a scan tool to clear it, i could be wrong though, i bought my truck after the 100,000 mile mark so i dont know

LOL I've never heard of a light coming on for routine maintanence intervals. Easiest thing to do is have the codes ran, then clear the light. If the 4x4 light is on a code should be thrown

Damn, see now that's what I was thinking at first. I worked at autozone for two years and never had anybody come in for a service 4wd light. . .I don't even know if their scan tool will pick that code up. I guess the snap on tool will.

Mine comes on every once in a while too...I just ignore it...prob the sender unit. If its leaking fluid, or dry then u have a prob, otherwise drive it til u cant stand it anymore, or get the codes read.

I can ignore it for only so long. Anyone know if the snap-on scan tool will read the 4wd code?

Got the same light today. My ODBII code reader didn't find any codes. I went ahead and used the clear function anyway. Light isn't on now so hopefully it's just a maintenace thing

I tried to use an obdII on a vehicle that came in where I work and got nothing. Couldn't even reset it. IDK about the snap-on one though

I had the same problem on my 2000 Z71, I took out the electronic 4 wheel switch, took it apart and re-soldered the pins on the back and it went away. I was getting the light on and off and also my truck would stay in 4WD when I tried to switch it back to 2WD. I also was not getting a code from the computer. Working perfect now. Maybe this will help. Good luck.
