Default 14 bolt=Ka Boom!

Yup the g80 def burnt up and took the rest of the rear end with it. I took the pan off after hearing horrific banging sounds when I turn. Holy metal shavings batman, the thing was stuffed with huge chunks of shims, g80 parts you name it. It still drives but it is a ticking time bomb. Hey it lasted 89k miles of me beating on it. I havent actually heard of any one blowing these things up. Now to find a junk yard that has a 14 bolt with a locker and 3:73's. Any body have one lying around? What should I expect to pay? I think this is definitley the cheaper route compared to rebuilding.

Unfortunately no rear is indestructable, but those 9.5 and 10.5 14 bolts are both pretty tough. When you figure al the weight it has to move, plus a big block, they have to be tough. 89k is not bad for being beaten up.

Ya I might rebuild it. The problem is getting the right tools to set it up, does anyone know if there are any special GM tools required to properly set it up? Any one have any suggestions for a locker? Thanks
