after you welded the tubes to the housing?

yeah, i've read that the 9.5 g80 was a strong chunk. but if i was to be doing after market axles and all, i figure why not just do a trutrac along with it. of course i want to put a **** ton of torque to mine. i'm determined to make the 9.5 live in the life of a torque hell duramax tahoe. lmao

No...Totally makes perfect sense man. Like I said, if it were something I were gonna race...it would get a 9" likely a Moser M9, with a strange 3rd some strange or Moser ChMo shafts, oversize bearings...you know...the $10K axle they sell.

For something your gonna drive and beat on on occasion, where parts could actually wear out as well as break, having the ability to pop in to your local Autozone or NAPA is totally awesome...back beating on it in an afternoon, not down and waiting on parts for 3 weeks.

Yeah...thats a well thought out solution.

I have seen most of the moser products and I know about the M9. Unfortunitly the M9 housing is really designed around a short axle package...

With that said I dont want get in to a who's product is better thread.

I let you guys Look up whos products Fail and let you make your own detrmination on why...

Hey Joseph, nice job with all the info...as usual. Question though. Where does the Dana 60 fit in the mix? Is that as good or better option than the 14 bolt or worse?
Thanks bud

Dana's are for dodge guys...LOL

I believe the 14B is stronger than a Dana 60 anyway. I know that the front 14B conversion for rock crawling is stronger than the 60. And even Dodge uses a Dana 80 in the back of they're heavy duty 3500's.

Pretty sure a stock 9" is stronger than a 60 too for that matter...not 100% on that though.

I'm sure you could build a very stout 60 though.

I believe the chief part that makes the 14bolt better than a Dana 60 is the pinion bearing setup it has. Didn't the quad steer 1500s come with a Dana 70 or something?

The Quadrasteer equipped trucks come with the Dana 60.

That bearing setup you speak of is from a 10.5" 14bolt. Not the 9.5".

Yeah, I'm talking about a real 14B...not the 9.5" one. Like the one in my buds lifted blazer. Its a 14B with a Detroit locker...its out of a 70's 1 ton chevy.

The 60 should be stronger than a 9.5" 14B.
