So you really don't even have to worry about cutting if you don't want to. It's just to be on the safe side.

Also, since you have a 02 which had disc brakes like mines does, what all did you have to do to get them swapped over to drums? Or did you swap your discs over to the 14 bolt?

There's one that I'm looking at right now and I'm probably going to go ahead and get it. It's the 9.5" 14 bolt with the 3.73. Does $1500 plus tax sound like a bad price?

The disc brakes will not switch over because the flanges are different on the housings. I wanted the drum brakes so I could run 15" wheels. Brake lines and everything are the same and bolt right up. Just bleed the brakes and drive! Only exception to 100% boltup is the park brake cables on ext-cab and crew cab trucks are about 6" shorter than scsb trucks. In your case 2 pcs. of 1/4" allthread and 2 cable connectors will fix.

$1500 is a very good price for these rears because they are limited. I paid over $1400 for my housing new bare from GM.

Good thing is that this one only has 473 miles on it out of a 2005 SS Silverado with 3.73. And it wasn't wrecked it had a cab fire.

Default New Update

I bought the 14 bolt that I was looking at! I'm pretty sure it came out of a 2005 VHO. I had a guy at the dealership that my aunt works at run the vin# and he said that he could find nothing that told him that it was an SS. But it's a locking 3.73! I'll be putting it in this Friday.

I'm guessing you want the 14 bolt with drum brakes to fit some drag tires?

I've got an 06 vmax with the 14 bolt and drums. It's back to the old gm squeaky brake program. You don't even have to get it off road and get dust in em to have them squeak-alot. Just an fyi.
