15" rims on an 02 silverado?

I tried grinding one of mine today. I want to use a 10x15 steel wheel with a 5.5" backspace so I can use a 30 x 10.5 slick. I ground over 5/16" off and it looks like another 1/4" needs to come off to have any clearance. I gave up and decided the caliper was getting too thin for me.
I took my 15x10 wheel and placed it on my 2005 truck with rear drum brakes. It cleared with 3/4" to spare all the way around. I compared the two rearends and they will interchange perfectly. The drum rear will not need as much pressure in the 02. I'm going to see if I can find a proportion valve tomorrow so I can make this swap in mine.
The nice thing about running 15" wheels is that just about any size slick or drag radial you want is available.

I'm running 15's on my '01. I ground and relocated the calipers by slotting the mounting holes. Then I made some half round pieces to fill the gap in the slot. I'm running 15 x 8.I can't find 15 x 10 wheels with the backspacing needed to keep the tires under the truck.

just a suggestion. have you ever thought about doing the stock 16' alloys, they are light as hell and with some m/t et streets 26x11.5x26, the combo weighs right at 40lbs.
