I need some tires to hook on the street!!! They may see some track duty till I get another set of slicks but my primary goal is to get at least a semi-hooking tire on the rear for the street. I have to have these by the first weekend in Oct. I was planning on running some Nitto 305/45/18 on my 18x9.5" wheels but had a lady run me off the road last week and I bent the exterior lip on two of them. I am hoping I can have them repaired but won't know till next week and time is getting short. I was thinking about the M&H 275/55/16 on my stock Al Silvy wheels but can't find any testimony of any high HP trucks using them on the street. Anyone using these or any other 16" DR'S on stock wheels on the street?

Don't have any experience with tires, but there is a place up here in Atlanta that does good work on wheels, or so I've heard. I'll pm you there site to check out.

Scream runs the M&H drag radials on his truck at the track. Looks like it'd be a pretty good tire.

Im running 255/50/16 MT ET street radials on mine and they hook pretty good. Haven't sprayed it with them yet though.

I run the M&H tires on stock wheels at the track and love them. For street use, I don't know. Rains too much down here.

The M&H DR's are great IMO. I do not typically run them on the street (and I am AWD) however the drive to an from the track is full of "hard launches". The tires you stated (M&H) do just fine on the stock silvy wheels as well. I honestly feel that I can dip under a 1.600 60 ft. time with these tires in cold weather. I have already beat my best 60 ft. time in 85+ temps my first time using the DR's. My goal is a 11.75 come cold weather and the M&H DR's are going to be a big part of that. I did have the opportunituy on driving them in the rain and I was actually impressed they were not a squirrley as past tires I used on my Mustang (the AWD makes a difference there). I still do advocate cuation in the rain though. You can slide very easy. Here are the 275/55/16 mounted on stock silvy wheels:

The 275 is the only 16" DR from M&H that I have seen. MT has a 295/50/16 ET Radial that is 27.7" tall but with a 10.8 tread width, I would not feel comfortable at all putting it on a 7" wide stock wheel. If I can get these wheels widened or set of 10" wheels I may try those or the 315/45/16s. If I have to buy new wheels, I will probablly just get some 15s and grid the calipers then I will have the pick of just about any tire I want.


As to you other guys running the M&H and MT's, thanks for the responses. Those with M&H, since you say you primarally use them at the track, how much heat do they like for hard launches? I was planning on getting some Hoosier 28x10 slicks for the track but if I can get something now that pulls double duty, I just may do that.

Yeah, I love the M&H's. They were good for mid 1.7 60's. They like a good amount of heat....longer burnouts always seemed to work better. If I played with the suspension and tire pressure I bet I could've gotten them to hook even better.

I would be interested in the wider MT ET Radials though...didn't know they had anything taller than 26"-ers.

I talked to a company called Weldcraft Wheels about getting my Boyds widened to 10"s, might want to hit them up about widening the Silvy wheels. They wanted $250/wheel, so it might be better just to get a set of Bogarts or something. Dude's email addy is james@weldcraftwheels.com.
