You say grinding. Like it will not go into gear? If not and it sounds like a rough noise as you drive and is quiet when you shift into 2nd you most likely lost a 1st gear thrust bearing.

Park it and fix it. It will not go away or stabilize. It will keep getting worse and leave you on the side of the road. I know this by personal experience.

Oh. I plan on pulling it out and taking it apart, I am just getting some information before I get my hands dirty this week.

Yeah it goes into gear and is noisy in 1st and goes away in second.

Sounds like the reaction planet is going out again. Was the cooler flushed on the last repair? And the converter cut open and cleaned?

I used some of that Kooler Kleen along with a new stock torque converter.

Took it apart and found chunks!
So it is my fault.

I replaced the rear ring gear and the rear planet. I didn't replace the rear sun gear because it appeared to look okay. Big mistake!

The rear ring gear is trashed, my new planets are trashed, and the rear sun gear is trashed. Based on the damage to the rear sun gear, I am going to assume that is what started the chain of events again.

Bummer!

Everything is getting replaced this time!

That sucks man. You have to be carefull and inspect everything twice. We've all done it, but you learn from your mistakes. Hope its up and running soon!
