Smile 2" Drop Shackles

Well I finally put the damn things on. Mostly I'm posting the thread to inform others that have the OEM towing package that they don't have to remove the hitch to install the shackls. When I tried to swap the shackles the other day I found that I had to either remove the hitch or cut it a little. I decided to just notch where the bolt had to clear with an angle grinder. I don't tow anything that's heavy enough to make the hitch fail for any reason. Just givin yall a heads up. Plus, the hitch looked like a bitch to remove as it was bolted in 8 places that were a bit hard to reach with my big *** hands.

Overall, I really like the way the truck looks now. It also feels like a little more power is transferred to the ground. I can feel a noticable difference in cornering too. I didn't have to shim it so far. The shackles I bought on eBay from phxwheel's store. They were a pretty good deal and they have the grease zerks on them for regular greasing. They don't squeak
Anyways, here's a few pix. The first is a few months after I got the truck, the second two are after the shackles. sorry for the last two, they're cellphone pix.

note: The shackles got rid of "most" of the chevy lean. I'm only off by less than a 1/4" with a full tank.

thanks man, at least someone wanted to post a response hahaha. I woulda done a 2/4, but then I would have needed helper bags for towing. I like it like this since it's still kinda stock looking. It's a sleeper project. I don't think I'm going to do any other exterior mods unless it's a little window tint and maybe a paint matched front grille/bumper (black). Otherwise it's all performance from here on out.

No you didn't. You just had to remove it. It only takes about 10 minutes to take off and put back on a hitch. Lazy bastard

I was a little lazy myself to be honest. I didn't feel like torquing down all the bolts up underneath there for the hitch. Plus, it'd be my luck that I'd **** somethin up haha.
