Question 2000 Silverado Z71 front shaft and transfer case strength..

Anyone know exactly how strong the front shafts and transfer cases are on the 2000 Silverado 1500 Z71's. I have a Regular cab, longbed, push button 4x4, Z71 and 5.3 liter, wondering if they are weak or strong? Just wondering if it would handle a 75 shot of nitrous out of the hole in 4 wheel drive on the street. Also did the HD model come with better stuff? Just curious I guess..

I haven't heard of anyone braking them, I have launched in 4x4 with a LOT more then what a 75 shot would be. Think 4 wheels spinning, lol

It can handle it, unless something like a u-joint is worn out. Check all the basics, then spray away!!

damn, this is good news, I figured on dry pavement in 4 wheel drive a 75 shot out of the hole would break the transfer case or shaft up front. I didnt think a 75 shot would make it spin any.

yeah i have aloottt more done and i launch with a 150 out the whole with a full bolt on ls1 and i launch in 4 wheel drive and dont shift out until it hits second geat it held together until recently and i was probably running 140 i know i had passed 130 but unsure after that if you plan on running it to those speeds build shafts and if you dont believe me look a few threads down under carnage and you can see what will happen

so you launch in 4 hi and switch to 2 hi after it hits 2nd gear? Is this a push buttom 4 wheel drive? Thats nuts if so, I thought it would tear up the transfer case.. I plan on running 90-100, nothing crazy..

From the info I've gathered, switching out won't make a difference if it's push button as it will stay in 4wd until you let off of the gas.
