These things are pretty reliable, but they do suffer from the same type of issues that regular 4WD cases have plus the non-typical viscous coupler failure from time to time. It’s not 100% as anything can wear out, but usually failures of the coupler arise from abuse, whether it be from lack of servicing, causing the unit to overheat or humping the unit also causing it to overheat.
Thanks for the info.

I did a search on NVG-149 and came up with this great article, if anyone is interested.

It seems that moderate amounts of humping are normal

I didn't have to do anything electronic with my swap. I had a manual floor shift four wheel drive transfer case. So all I did was remove the transfer case and front differential, and install the NVG-149 and front diff out of an AWD truck, plugged in the speed sensor to the port on the T-case and that was it, done.

Do a search man, theres a lot more into this swap then just bolting parts on. They're the same ******* bumper. You have to modify the bumper brackets by lowering them about an inch and a half, cut and re-weld.

Its really easy, just cut the bumper brackets off and lower them. Then weld them on again. I put the bumper where I wanted it and then welded accordingly. Know what I mean?

I'm looking to get the front/rear differentials redone with 4.10's. Can anybody suggest a good kit to go with? I'm looking at the Eaton units right now.

You won't beat Ron's Machining, even including the shipping. That's where I got my stuff, he blew everybody elses prices out of the water, even with my wholesale discounts.

Debating on 4.10's or sticking with the 3.73's. Might just stick with the 3.73's so I can still go fast on the highway, but I'm sure some of you 4.10 guys will say otherwise
