You can do all those things, do a search for nvg-149 and 4l80 swap. You have to get a different output shaft so the 80e OS works with the nvg149 t-case.

Imo, get a built 4L60/4L65 from FLT or someone else and then you don't have to worry about all the conversion stuff.

SS trucks had 4.10 front differentials so look at AWD tahoe's or Denali's maybe.

What's a ballpark figure on price for the parts needed for the swap?

Oh, can you adapt the AWD transfer case to work with the 4L80E?

Thanks!
You just need the transfer case and front driveshaft. You can use your front diff and just lock it in 4hi.

EAD performance makes an input gear for the nvg149. That's what I am using with my 4L80e.

Thanks for the reply. Ive read wherepeople claimed that locking into 4hi is weaker than replacing the front end with the AWD setup. I personally don't see how it could be all that bad, but the 4wd front axle was not intended to be ran all the time either.

Have you had any problems running it that way?

There isn't any bearing differences or anything between the AWD front end and the 4wd front end is there?

If not, I'll just lock it into 4hi and swap in an AWD transfer case and driveline.

The rear drive line is the same length between the two transfer cases right?

So the front driveline is about an inch longer while the rear remains the same?

you will need to get a front driveshaft from an AWD equipped truck. Read the thread from the beginning, its all here.

The front driveshaft is shorter. The rear one should be longer but stock works fine.

^^^ right on!

How fun is your turbo AWD truck? I'm building a forged 370 with a KB kit for it this winter.

If you're contemplating the 4L80E NP149 combo, one thing you're going to need to get your hands on is the input shaft from time2kill on silveradoss. Unfortunately, he has stopped producing them.
