2003 Suburban 5.3l close to overheating when towing
#11
If I may suggest, I have 285/75/16s w/ 4.10 and I live at 5500'. I tow pretty regularly
I have way more mods than you do, I make 302 at the wheels, SAE corrected (477 with the blower)
I wish I had more gear. 4.30 or 4.56 would be my choice. 4.56 the top choice, imo

I appreciate the feedback! I just checked and actually I have 275/70/17 's, so one step up from the 265/70/17's that come stock. I'll take a serious look at the lower gear ratio's as well. I need some semblance of gas mileage as well. Everything is a give and take.

I've had good luck with the Mishimoto upgrade radiators as well as a 160* T stat and fans turn off at 45mph. I don't believe I've ever had engine temps dip into the 200s according to a scanner not the dash gauge.
