2007 Tahoe transfer case interchange?
New to me 2007 Tahoe, transfercases is destroyed. Ive never seen such a thing, back of the case is mushy and i poked a hole with my finger! Trying to find interchanges, having a hard time finding accurate info, dash switch has 2HI/AWD/4HI/4LO. What could cause this failure, anyways?

If your transfer-case is in otherwise good functioning condition, there may be a replacement case halve available for your unit. Rockland Standard Gear has the rear case halves for quite a few GM transfer-cases and it is supposedly stronger than the original and made from aluminum.
According to RSG: Many owners have experienced “bearing creep” due to the chemical incompatibility of steel bearings in the OEM magnesium case, as well as oil pump “beat-through” where the oil pump literally bores a hole in the transfer case half. The new RSG heat-treated, aircraft-grade aluminum replacement case half is built for extreme duty with extra ribbing and thicker material in critical areas. In fact, it weighs four more pounds than the OEM magnesium case it replaces, and totally eliminates the electrolysis problem inherent with the factory cases. Additionally, the new Tranzilla HD case half eliminates other costly fixes such as oil pump thrust plate that typically cost $45.00 or more. It also eliminates snap ring groove wear.
