2800 stall work for a DD?
Hey I just picked up an 06 silverado ECSB that is all stock, has the l59 5.3/4l60e and was wondering if a 2800 stall will wake up the performance of the truck a little.
When shifting from 1-2, it sort of falls on its face, and I would like to kind of solve that problem with a bigger stall and a little cam. I dont want to go very big though because this is my DD and will need to stay semi gas friendly and reliable. I might take it to the track once or twice for poops and grins or possibly pull a car hauler in the future, but will stay the daily driver for sure. Here is the cam I am looking at and wondering if it will fit my needs. Here are the specs, its the gm ls1 "hot cam".
218/228 .525/.525, 112 lsa
I will eventually go with a dedicated exhaust system of course, but for now will want to stay with the nice mellow factory exhaust.
Anybody have any experience with this cam/converter combo?

I have an ECSB with 216/220 .525/.532 114lsa with a base model Circle D 2800-3000 stall, 4.30 gears, 275/45/20"s (29.74" tall) and avg 17mpg.
The converter is currently on sale for slightly more than what I paid used.

You've got people on here running 3600 and higher stalls in a DD so most of the answers will be yes. I've got a Yank tt2600 in my truck and it's fine for a DD. You'll want to tune the shifting and lockup if you go with the higher stall - I wasn't crazy about mine until I got it tweaked to my liking. As installed the converter wouldn't lock up, even at very light throttle input, until 60 mph vs. stock 45 mph.

I have a vig 2600 as well....I agree that the tune has lots to do with performance. It took me a while to learn to drive it, and I'm still tweaking the tune a bit with BlackBear to get the lockup where I want it to accommodate both highway and local traffic. I had issues with it always dropping in and out of lockup and it concerned me that it was putting too much heat into the tranny - especially on aggressive locals. R/

I daily drive my truck for the most part with a Yank tt3000 and it doesnt feel much different to me than a stock converter which actually bothers me because I dont feel that it is loose enough alot of the times. The Yank tt3000 is a great converter just acts a little tighter sometimes than what I would like.
I am going to solve that problem though by going with something in the 3600-3800 range once I do a bigger cam.
