Default 2wd Leveling kit

im looking to lift the front of my truck 2" or so to level it out. want to retain the stock ride height in the rear. its a 2000 RCSB silverado 1500. i'd like to do it on a budget but still have a smooth ride. i've herd of using ford f-150 torsion keys. any opinions on that or other options, what else do i need? thanks

are you sure it has torsion bars on the front end? if it is then you could use the ford keys if not you could check into a spindle lift or maybe an aftermarket coil or coil spacer.

that just came up while i was searching, didnt really think about it but i guess that only applies to 4wd front ends. how would a coil spacer affect my camber?

Some 2wd trucks do have torsion bars, so you should take a look under yours. Coil spacers are the low-buck option if you have coils. Spindles will always ride the best, and usually correct for bump-steer and turning radius, but cost more.

None of the 99-02 silverado 2wds had a torsion bar front end. It wasn't until 05 or so that they had 2wd with torsion bars.

Your best option to level it by lifting the front is using 3" spindles and a 1" block or a 2" coil spacer. I would strongly recommend using the spindles over the coil spacers as they won't change your suspension travel.

i cant find a spindle lift smaller than 3", then i would have to lift the rear 1"... thats more money and work than i was planning on. spindles are expensive. also the stock height tires i want to keep might look funny.

how bad will the 2" coil spacers be? i'd like to hear from some people have ridden with them on a silverado. handling bumps, turning, ride, etc. ive owned 2 lifted trucks that used coil spacers but they were both solid front axle, so i dont have any direct experience with this.

What is your particular reason for wanting to retain stock ride height in the back?

i dont want the lift to be too big to where my tires look small, also just dont want to get into spending more money.

Coil spacers would probably be a pain in the a$$ to put in. I can't say for your truck but i've done the older body style and it sucks.

should i consider whole new coils over just the spacers?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-06...Q5fAccessories

i was reading one coil spacer kit said it required the use of aftermarket control arms...
