no it gets really good mileage in the city cause ot shifts at like 1200 rpm on the stock stall going light to light or crusing at 30-40 anything over 30 mph my truck's converter locks up and it just pulls 900-1000 rpm give it a lil extra gas it will stay locked and just pull up a lil

First I have heard of soemone getting BETTER mileage in town than on the highway I now have 19K miles on my CCSB 2wd and I have the 3.23's, and I have calculated all tanks of fuel sice day one. 15-16 MPG @ town and 20-21MPG on the highway. I just made a trip from Houston to Detroit and back, and having the cruise on 70-75 the whole way back got 20.5-21 MPG with a best of 21.9 MPG. I am in the process of swapping out gears, and I am going back and forth between 3.73's or 4.10's, running the stock 17" wheel and tire combo, and MAYBE running a bit taller tire when it comes time to change them out. With those that have 3.73's and 4.10's what is your RPM @ 70 MPH? I am @ 1800-1850 RPM give or take. And also, list your tire size as well, thanks.

The gear swap won't hurt your mileage hardly any.....now a stall on the other hand will have a pretty signifigant effect in town especially.

Yeah if yo can check next time out that would be great. Hauling a trailer with the 3.23's is KILLING this truck. I have to haul in 3rd gear on FLAT ground @ 70MPH pulling my car. I also picked up 6.0L shortblock to help that as well, but inthe mean timeI am going to do a gear swap first and jsut need to know RPM's @ 70MPH with what gear and tire size, since that is what I cruise at and most worried about. I sold my Powerstroke Dually and it had 4.10's and it was @ 2500 RPM @ 70 and with a diesel anyhting over 2000 RPMS sucks some serious fuel!!!! So I was hopong that with a 3.73's or 4.10's, @ 70 MPH I could swing in the neighborhood of @ 2100-2200 RPM. Anyone else out there?
