3.42 w/ FI 6.0 and 4L80e ???

My 95 has 3.73s and 31.5 inch tall tires and I really wish it was geared a little higher. I can't decide between 33's and leave it at this heighth or put 4 inch spindles on and 35's and stay with the 3.73s. The 2nd option would be great on the highway and should still have enough grunt. 1st gear is completely useless if I want it to be the way it is right now. I've actually had to pull some timing down low to keep the wheel spin down and thats with a dang 1500 rpm stalling converter. I don't see the problem with 3.42's at all if you have the torque to make it go at lower speeds. FWIW mine as it sits turns 2100 at 65, 2200-2250 at 70.

i dont think i will ever have traction if i jump on it from a stop with the 370/1900 combo....
3.73 or 3.42 will be coming up soon....right now going to focus on exhaust and tune...want to drive it more than just the 20ft in and out of the shop garage...haha
i have a stock 80e converter from a 2500hd 6.0

I am in the opposite boat... I want off the line launch and currently with 3.42 it wont even chirp it out of the hole 22" rim 30.5" tire... I will be drag racing on 25.5" tall mt et streets. Really want the launch but dont want to go so tall i have traction issues... I might go 3.90.... bigger than 3.73 not quite 4.10 and i talked the mechanic and said at 80mph on a 30.5" tire i would be doing 2300 rpms... not bad

3.23s and 80E... ha, you won't ever run out of gears on the interstate..prolly be shifing 1-2 at 70mph.
But from a off idle punch, they will chirp and do their best to spin, but not much.. Now if I stall it up a little, well say bye bye to the rubber.
I spun the slicks last time we went out on the street, but I brake stalled it and left on 5#. then they hooked and off I went.

I guess most of the people posting have the 4L80 because If I am going 65 MPH on the freeway with the 4L60 and 3.73 gear the RPM's are about 1800 which I think is a little low for my taste. I am thinking of going to 4.10 and my RPM;s will still only be about 2000. Of course my tire diameter is 31".

exactly....wiht my 60e and 4.10s and 30.5 tire it was great, but along came mr 80e and spoiled the party...no more traction and cruising rpms are too high.
basically looking for more data on 3.42 vs 3.73 with the 80e and over 520rwtq

If not going with a stall I'd get 3.73's
