Default 3.42's vs. 4.10's on Highway

Alright guys, usig BlackGMC's Shift Points Chart (BTW, very nice chart), it shows the following:

3.42 @ 2,000 RPMS = 74MPH
4.10 @ 2,000 RPMS = 62MPH

That's a difference of 12 MPH. Is there really that much difference in speed between the two?

I'm running a 30" tire.

I wouldn't even worry about it. 4.10s put the truck in such a better powerband it's not even funny. My truck doesn't lug down low with the 4.10s anymore. The performance isn't "night and day" though. The truck simply became more enjoyable to drive.

there's a big difference , but you would be fine for dd. its not as bad as most guys think its going to be. i ran 4.10's for a while, didn't notice any worse gas milage. i now have 4.56's (29" tire) and i wouldn't be afraid of driving it as a dd. then again i only drive 65 down the highway.

Yep there is a big difference in MPH... I love/hate my 4.10s.... First off cruising at 70 with 4.10s your get alot more exhaust noise, so it is louder in the cab.. The good is that the truck does not kick down to 3rd or 2nd trying to accelerate on the highway, it stays in 4th with the TC locked, until you really get on the gas...

I'm turning 2k rpm right at 65 in my truck. I think my tires are a little taller though, maybe around 31''.

Thanks guys. I drive mostly on the highway with this truck, so I might hold off on the gear swap for now...
