3.73, 3.90 or 4.10?
Who's running what and how do you like it?
Im going from 3.42 to one of the above mentioned gears with a Truetrac.
I have mostly full bolt on's minus Lt's but thats coming soon, with a Yank 2600 stall and will eventually be installing the Vinci "trucker" cam in the future. Just wanted to see what ya'll were running and what suggestions you have.
Thanks, Kyle
My truck is a rcsb 4.8 2wd, and this is my daily driver

any of those will be okay... I've had all three. Not a huge difference between 4.10 and 3.90s but 3.73 is a nicer highway gear. Depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking to get out of the hole, 4.10s are great. What size tire are you running at the track and for daily driving?

I have factory 3.73's with a 31" tall tire (on heavy 20's in the summer), and wish that my truck came with 4.10's from the factory...it's a small difference but enough that I'd notice
The 3.73's are great when I take road trips from NJ to Mass to visit my buddy though

Don't even consider 3.73 unless they're free, not enough difference from 3.42 to be worth the time and $$$. As you already have full boltons you're headed towards performance. You know you want 4.10, besides the 4.8 needs all the help it can get down low, 20" wheels are heavy and need a lower gear to get them moving.
Your mileage should actually improve with 4.10

Iv'e heard the best gears are OEM but these trucks don't come with the 3.90 stock.
Mainly like I said above I want a good quality gear that will last a long time, run quietly, and I don't want the RPM's screaming down the highway.

I have a CCSB with 3.23's and a 4.8. Ill be going to 4.10's in it.
Im also buying a RCSB with a 4.8, and Im assuming 3.42's. IMO going from 3.42's to 3.73's isnt worth the effort even if it is free. The 3.73's are a great ratio, IMO the 4.8 needs every bit of help it can get, so Id say go at least 3.90's depending on the tire size.
My CC runs 275/55 20 so thats about a 32" tall tire
Not sure what Im gonna run on the RC, but Im thinking Ill go 3.90 in it

You really think the 4.10's would improve gas mileage. I was leaning towards the 3.90's but I also want to find a gear thats gonna be quiet but the only brand I found that carries the 3.90's is Yukon gear. Is yukon a good brand?

On the highway I lost around 2mpg and I usually commute to work at around 65mph, but on average (city + highway) I gained 1-2mpg if I take it easy, which is hard to do with the 4.10 . To be honest lets just say on average my mileage stayed the same with the gear swap, with the added benefit that now I drive it like if it was a rental truck
What tire size do you have in there? This is important to choose the right ratio.
I have Yukon gears, quiet as stock.
